Trimming
Trimming, stripping
Trimming is the removal of dead hair from a dog’s coat. This procedure is only suitable for rough-coated breeds. It requires professional tools, certain knowledge and experience. It can’t be done effectively at home unless you’re the groomer, you’ll cause your pet pain and they’re unlikely to let you get even halfway through the procedure. In addition, you can do a lot of harm to the animal, leaving bald spots and inflammation on the body.
Trimming is recommended to be done in spring and autumn – during seasonal shedding, but the frequency also depends on the individual characteristics of the animal.
The technique also affects the frequency: light trimming is done once a quarter, full trimming is done once every six months. If the dog participates in exhibitions, then trimming is carried out at the stage of preparation for the performance, so that the pet can show itself in front of the judges in all its glory!
